Centrally located within the Virgin group, St. John has long been known for its stunning unspoiled beauty and rich cultural heritage. Claimed and occupied in the name of the Danish Crown in 1718, the island remained a Danish colony until 1917 when, along with its sister islands of St. Thomas and St. Croix, it was purchased by The United States of America.
