Estate Annaberg is an 18th century sugar estate. During the last two decades of the 18th century and through most of the 19th century, Annaberg was operated together with Mary Point Estate to the west and for a period, with Leinster Bay Estate to the east. It has extensive remains of buildings of this period. During the last quarter of the 19th century, sugar cultivation was abandoned and cattle raised in its place, and a dwelling and cookhouse were erected on the old horse mill.

Estate Annaberg is an 18th century sugar estate. The earliest horse mill on Estate Annaberg predates 1800 and was erected during the ownership of Benjamin Line or Robert Milner who acquired Annaberg in 1786. It was subsequently enlarged twice. During the last quarter of the 19th century, sugar cultivation was abandoned and cattle raised in its place.

Building/structure dates: 1760 initial construction Significance: The Windmill Tower of Estate Carolina is the oldest of the five windmills on St. John. The Estate was acquired by Count Heinrich von Schimmellmann in 1765 and remained part of this family's entailed estate until the early 1900's. The windmill was built at an unknown date between 1763 and 1780 when it is listed in P.L. Oxholm's survey.

Estate Denis Bay Sugar Factory predates 1780. The remains, converted into a residence, are located on the low land immediately behind the beach. About 1820 the windmill tower and the adjoining horsemill was built on the height above and to the west of the old factory site and connected by masonry can juice ducts to the factory. The mill tower is the smallest of the five windmills on St. John.

The wooden framing and grinding machinery are missing and only the stone tower has survived. The oven opposite the entry and the two windows in the upper part of the tower are the mill's unusual features.

The Custom House on Whistling Cay was erected in the early 19th century to guard the shipping lane between the Danish and the British Virgin Islands. It replaced an earlier Customs Guardhouse on the north shore of Mary Point.
