  We know the photograph was taken on St. John, but who are the individuals in the picture? David Knight feels that it was most likely taken in the Gift Hill area after the 1916 hurricane. Can anyone help?

  How about this one? It was taken at the CCC worksite in Calabash Boom circa 1938. We believe that the individual on the left, in the back row, may be Harold Hubler, a Department of Interior employee sent to the Virgin Islands to oversee the program. (The same Harold Hubler responsible for the 1939 report regarding the potential for a national park on St. John.) Wouldn’t it be interesting to verify this and learn the names of the others… no, doubt all St. Johnians?

  The first is clearly a picture taken from Bordeaux Mountain, looking down into the Coral Bay and the Emmaus Moravian Church settlement. It was taken in about 1956, and it would be interesting to find out the name of the individual in the foreground.
